The Indian batters in top for ODI rankings: Indian Cricket Team batters Shubham Gill, Virat Kohli, and team captain Rohit Sharma reign supreme in the ICC ODI batter’s rankings. The Indian batters occupy three of the top four positions.
The rankings were updated this week itself. And while the Men in Blue are not playing any ODI cricket, and have not played any in the last few months, a team that is playing the 50-over format is Pakistan. And that has made all the difference.
The Indian batters in top for ODI rankings
Shubman Gill has been occupying the to spot in these rankings for some time now. He had a fine run of form in this format at the start of the year. After two half centuries in a three-match ODI series against England, he scored a ton in the third and overtook Babar Azam in the rankings. A decent performance in India’s triumphant CT 2025 campaign brought him to 784 reading points.
For the past few months since then, Babar Azam has been ranked second in the ODIs behind Rohit at third and Kohli at fourth. But that changed in the recent three-match Pakistan vs West Indies ODI series. In the series, which the Men in Green lost 2-1, Babar scored 47, 0, and 9 runs respectively in the matches.

These performances pushed him down to 751 rating points, being Rohit’s 756. This pushed the Indian Cricket Team ODI captain to second in the rankings., despite India not having played any ODIs since March.
This means that Indian batters are now the first, second, and fourth ranked ODI batters. They will have the opportunity to improve on their rating points in the ODI series against Australia in October.
