Telangana Deputy CM Orders Expedited Clearances for SCCL’s Renewable Projects
In a significant push towards Telangana’s green energy goals, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has issued directives for fast-tracked clearances and support for Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)’s ambitious renewable energy initiatives. The move is aimed at ensuring the timely completion of key solar, wind, and hydro projects, which together represent a substantial capacity of over 1,800 MW.
Mega Green Energy Push by SCCL
The three major projects under focus include:
Timely Completion Mandated
Recognizing the strategic importance of these projects in meeting both Telangana’s energy needs and India’s climate commitments, the Deputy CM has instructed departments to prioritize all necessary environmental, technical, and land-related clearances. He emphasized inter-departmental coordination and periodic reviews to eliminate delays and ensure that each project sticks to its designated timeline.
Officials from SCCL and the state’s energy department have been directed to submit regular progress reports. The government also plans to explore central government incentives and green energy financing to ease the financial burden on the projects.
SCCL’s Renewable Vision
Traditionally a coal mining giant, SCCL has in recent years pivoted toward a greener future, aligning with global energy trends. The company has already operationalized several solar plants and plans to achieve a 4,000 MW renewable energy portfolio in the coming years, making it one of the largest green energy producers among public sector enterprises in India.
Impact and Outlook
Once completed, these projects will not only reduce Telangana’s carbon footprint but also create jobs, boost rural infrastructure, and ensure energy security in the long run. The state’s proactive approach, as highlighted by the Deputy CM’s directions, signals Telangana’s intent to become a renewable energy leader in the region.
The upcoming months will be critical, as SCCL and state agencies work in tandem to turn this ambitious vision into a reality, powering Telangana’s growth with clean and sustainable energy.
