Teams With The Most Club World Cup Titles: The ongoing FIFA Club World Cup is the 21st edition of this competition. Having first played in the year 2000, this was a yearly competition from 2005 to 2023, with the continental champions from each continent playing in a short knockout-style competition to determine the club world champion.

However, in 2025, the tournament has been greatly altered. From this year, the CWC will be played every four years and will see 32 teams from all the continental confederations play a round-robin style tournament. We are already in the semifinal stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, as a new champion will be crowned within days.

But today, we will look at the teams that have won this competition the most times. 12 different teams have won the Club World Cup so far. Three of these clubs have been from Brazil, while the rest have been European. São Paolo, SC Internacional, AC Milan, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City have all won it once. Now, here are the teams that have won it multiple times.

Teams With The Most Club World Cup Titles

Corinthians – 2

Brazilian club Corinthians (full name Sport Club Corinthians Paulista) is not only the only non-European team to have won the FIFA Club World Cup on more than one occasion, but they were also the winner of the first-ever edition of this tournament in the year 2000.

The first CWC saw eight teams from several confederations play a round-robin style competition. From the two groups, one team from each would make it to the final. The final was an all-Brazilian affair, as Corinthians took on Vasco da Gama and won that game 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.

Their second win came in 2012. In an unsurprising final, South American champions Corinthians took on the European champions Chelsea in the final. But in an unexpected turn of events, it was the Brazilian side that won the match 1-0 and was crowned the champions of the world once again.

Bayern Munich – 2

Bayern Munich is the only German team to have been the club world champions. But that is because they are the only team from their country to have won the UEFA Champions League in this century.

Bayern’s first CWC win came in 2013, after they entered the competition as the European champions. This time, instead of the CONMEBOL champions, the UEFA side took on CAF Champions League winners Raja Casablanca from Morocco in the final, beating them 2-0.

Their second win came in 2020. After winning the UCL in dominant fashion, Bayern Munich entered the FIFA Club World Cup. They had an easy road to the final, where they beat the Mexican side Tigres UANL 1-0 in the final.

Barcelona – 3

The first of two Spanish clubs to have won the CWC, FC Barcelona has done it a whopping three times. As arguably the most dominant club team of the 2010s, it is natural that they won every competition under the sun in that period.

While they had won the UCL in 2006, they had not won the Club World Cup that year. Their first win came in 2009. This time, they made it to the final and beat Argentine club Estudiantes de La Plata 2-1 in extra time.

They then made it two titles in three years, as in 2011, after winning the Champions League once again, they made it to the World Cup, this time thrashing Brazilian club Santos 4-0.

Their third, and so far, the last title came in 2015. After winning the UCL for the third time in six years, the Blaugrana played the CWC and faced another Argentine side, River Plate, in the final, beating them 3-0.

Real Madrid – 5

The most successful European club of all time is also the team that has won the FIFA Club World Cup the most times. This fact should come as a shock to no one. In this venture as well, like many others, they have outshone their arch-rivals, Barcelona.

While Los Blancos participated in the first-ever CWC in 2000, their first win came in 2014, the year they won their 10th UCL title. After an easy semi-final match, they took on San Lorenzo from Argentina 2-0.

Next came something unprecedented. Not only did Real Madrid win three UCL titles in a row, but they also won three Club World Cup titles in three years. First, in 2016, they beat Japan’s Kashima Antlers 4-2 in the final. Then, in 2017, they defeated the Brazilian club Grêmio 1-0 in the ultimate match. Finally, in 2018, came a 4-1 win in the final over Asian champions and UAE club Al Ain.

Finally, the Spanish giants won the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in the final 5-3.
