Expected to launch in early 2026, the Tata Sierra EV will be offered with two battery packs; claimed range could be over 500 km
Tata Motors’ revived Sierra nameplate is already off to a flying start with the ICE-powered version beginning its rollout to dealerships nationwide. The response has been nothing short of massive as the SUV clocked 70,000 confirmed bookings within the first 24 hours while another 1.35 lakh prospective buyers have registered their preferred configurations.
With this kind of momentum, the petrol and diesel Sierra is widely expected to shake up the midsize SUV segment in the months ahead. Running alongside the ICE model’s market entry is the development of the all-electric Sierra. New spy shots confirm that the Sierra EV is undergoing extensive road testing in India ahead of its market launch in early 2026.
Although the test mule remains heavily camouflaged, Tata has already offered a preview of the electric version through official teasers released earlier. It evident that the EV will carry a slightly distinct identity despite sharing its design direction with the combustion-powered model. Up front, the Sierra EV ditches the conventional grille in favour of a sealed fascia that gives it electric credentials.

A sleek LED daytime running light bar stretches across the width of the nose just below the bonnet line while split headlamps and a darkened bumper section will also be available. A silver skid plate, upright proportions, strong character lines and the unmistakable window design ensure continuity with the original model’s design philosophy are other highlights.
Flush-fitting door handles, squared-off wheel arches and sporty alloy wheels can be seen on the test vehicle with both ICE and EV versions expected to share the same wheel design. At the rear, EV-specific accents and badging are likely while the boxy tailgate, full-width LED light bar and roof-mounted spoiler should maintain coherence.

On the inside, the Sierra EV is expected to mirror the cabin layout of its ICE sibling. Key features include a triple-screen setup featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display and a dedicated passenger-side screen. The dashboard will focus on layered textures, soft-touch materials, ambient lighting and premium upholstery.
Other anticipated features are a new steering wheel with an illuminated logo, auto-dimming IRVM, adjustable headrests and a large panoramic glass roof. Mechanically, the electric Sierra will share a lot with the Harrier EV. Tata will offer two battery pack options with the larger unit expected to deliver a real-world driving range of more than 500 km. It will support DC fast charging and bi-directional charging facilities.
