Here we have explained about the possible upcoming Tata compact SUVs that are expected to launch within the next 2 years in India
Tata Motors is gearing up for a major SUV onslaught that will unfold over the next couple of years. The company, already strong in the compact SUV space, is now preparing to take things several notches higher with an expanded lineup that covers everything from micro SUVs to full-electric nameplates.
The brand’s product roadmap is easily one of its most aggressive yet with close to 30 models either new or significantly updated. Tata plans to introduce seven fresh nameplates as part of this strategy including the highly anticipated Sierra comeback, the futuristic Avinya EV lineup, and a brand-new compact SUV known internally by the codename “Scarlet.”
The focus, however, is firmly on the sub-four-metre SUV category where Tata has seen its strongest demand. Leading the pack will be the next-generation Nexon which will undergo a complete overhaul. Dubbed “Garud” inside Tata’s development circles, the new Nexon will move to a thoroughly revised version of the X1 platform.

A comprehensive design update is also on the cards, alongside an all-new cabin with improved fit, finish and ergonomics reportedly. Buyers can expect a more premium cabin with the addition of Level 2 ADAS tech, a revamped digital cluster and an upgraded infotainment system. The market launch may only take place in 2027.
Meanwhile, Tata’s smallest SUV, the Punch, is readying for a mid-cycle facelift. Test vehicles have already been spotted wearing heavy camouflage pointing towards design updates inspired by the Punch EV. The refreshed petrol variant could debut by the end of this year bringing revised looks and updated features.

The facelifted Punch EV is reportedly slated for 2026. Alongside these updates, the homegrown brand is also working on a new compact SUV – the Scarlet – which will sit between the Punch and Nexon in Tata’s portfolio. The Scarlet is expected to sport a boxier stance and upright silhouette – taking styling cues from the upcoming Sierra.
As you might expect, the new SUV will target high volume players in the compact SUV segment – combining practicality with latest design philosophies and an accessible price tag.
