Lucknow: In a major administrative development in Uttar Pradesh, 1989-batch senior IAS officer Mr. S.P. Goyal officially assumed charge as the new Chief Secretary of the state on Wednesday. He takes over the post following the retirement of the previous Chief Secretary.

Soon after taking charge, Mr. Goyal emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination, timely implementation of policies, and maintaining a people-first approach in governance. He instructed officials to ensure that all government schemes reach the grassroots effectively and without delay.

Mr. Goyal has previously held key positions in the Chief Minister’s Office and is widely recognized for his clean image, administrative acumen, and result-oriented working style. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated him on the new role and expressed confidence that the state administration would become more efficient and accountable under his leadership.

His appointment is being viewed as a strategic move aligned with the government’s vision for better governance and accelerated development.
