Rishabh Pant Shares Update On His Foot Injury: Indian Cricket Team wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has provided an update on his foot injury, and it doesn’t seem that he will be back in action any time soon.
Pant played a massive role in the recently concluded India vs England five-Test match, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He scored two centuries in the first match of the series, then scored a couple of half-centuries in the next two matches. Then came the fourth Test in Manchester.
With the Three Lions leading the series 2-1 at this moment, India batted first in this fourth Test. The openers did well, but none of them converted a great start into a ton. In the 68th over of the first day, India’s score was 212/3, with Pant (on 37) and Sai Sudharsan batting.
On the fourth ball of Chris Woakes’ over, Rishabh tried to reverse-sweep a yorker, which was toe-crushing in the literal sense in this instance. While the third umpire gave a not-out decision, Pant was clearly struggling in the aftermath of the toe. He was taken off the field in a mini-ambulance and was rushed straight to a medical facility.

The scans confirmed what every Indian cricket fan feared: Rishabh Pant had suffered a fracture on his right toe. It seemed that the series for him ended that day. However, on Day Two, with the Men in Blue struggling at 314/6, Pant took to the field with a fractured foot. He ended up adding crucial runs, reaching the 50-run mark and ending up making 54 runs.
However, after India drew that match, it was confirmed that the 27-year-old will not play in the fifth and final Test of the series. He didn’t even keep the wickets in the fourth match, a duty that was taken up by Dhruv Jurel, who replaced Pant completely in the fifth game. The Indian Cricket Team did end up winning the match and drawing the series.

Following the fourth Test, Rishabh Pant took to social media and shared this message with his fans:
“Appreciate all the love and good wishes coming my way. It’s been a real source of strength. I will begin rehab once my fracture heals and I am slowly settling into the process. Staying patient, following routines and giving it my 100 per cent. Playing for the country has always been the proudest moment of my life. Can’t wait to be back doing what I love.”
And now, about three weeks after he suffered the injury, Pant has once again taken to the top social media to give an update. However, this time, it’s a little less wordy and a lot more depressing.
The wicketkeeper posted a picture of his foot in a cast on Instagram Stories. Alongside the photo, he wrote the words, “I hate this so much.”
Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the Indian Cricket Team squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in September. He might also miss the limited-overs tour to Australia in October-November, but might be back in the side in time for the tour to South Africa, which starts in late November.
