Citroen Basalt X will get a new dual-tone interior theme and additional features as it will more likely sit at the top of the range upon launch
Citroen India has officially opened pre-bookings for its upcoming Basalt X range. Customers can reserve their vehicle at any authorised Citroen dealership or through the brand’s India website with a booking amount of Rs. 11,000. The announcement has been accompanied by teaser images giving us a hint of what is arriving as part of the updates.
The new Basalt X comes as a result of Citroen’s ‘Shift into the New’ 2.0 strategy and it follows the recent launch of the C3 X range which has been priced from Rs. 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom) with additional features. The teaser images highlight the interior upgrades and a set of new features as the black and brown dual-tone cabin theme will be a new inclusion.
The dashboard also gets more premium finishes and copper accents can be seen on the air conditioning vents as well as the dashboard. The teaser also shows central armrest with twin cup holders with a small space in front. We do expect the Basalt X to sit at the top of the range in a similar fashion to the C3 X which received multiple new features.

They are push-button engine start, keyless entry and stop and a 360-degree camera system as an option. Considering that the Basalt midsize SUV coupe is positioned in a more premium manner, we can expect new equipment and technologies to be introduced as well. The prices for the Citroen Basalt X range could around Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 more than the existing trims.
No mechanical changes are likely as it will continue to be offered with two 1.2-litre petrol engine options: a naturally aspirated version and a turbocharged unit. The turbo engine delivers 108.6 bhp and 190 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or 205 Nm with a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

It will stay put with 470-litre boot space and has 180 mm of ground clearance. The Basalt range is currently priced between Rs. 8.32 lakh and Rs. 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom) and is positioned below the C5 Aircross and slightly above the Aircross in the brand’s domestic lineup.
