Nissan Tekton will sit on the localised CMF-B platform and it will give rise to a seven-seater sibling next year in India

Nissan Motor India is lining up a big reveal for the domestic market early next month as it prepares to showcase the all-new Tekton midsize SUV on February 4, 2026. The model will be unveiled at the brand’s India resurgence event and it will arrive shortly after Nissan introduces the Gravite seven-seat MPV on January 21.

While the Gravite will serve as a budget family mover and reach customers first, the Tekton will compete with midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Sierra, etc. It will be manufactured at the Renault–Nissan Alliance facility in Chennai and will also be exported to select international markets.

The Nissan Tekton will sit on the CMF-B platform, the same architecture that will underpin the new generation Renault Duster scheduled to go on sale on January 26, 2026. The platform has been heavily localised for Indian road conditions and safety requirements and it will also serve as the base for additional future Nissan and Renault products.

Engine details remain unconfirmed but the Tekton is expected to be offered with turbocharged petrol powertrains paired with both manual and automatic transmissions. A strong-hybrid option is being evaluated for a later phase while higher variants could feature an all-wheel-drive system. The five-seater will utilise a more upright and muscular stance.

It takes inspiration from larger global Nissan SUVs such as the Patrol enabling squared-off proportions, a prominent grille flanked by C-shaped LED headlamps, pronounced bonnet creases and strong shoulder lines. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar and prominent Tekton branding are likely highlights. Interior details are still under wraps but the cabin is expected to be loaded with premium features.

A large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrumentation, soft-touch materials and a full suite of ADAS functions are of high possibilities along with ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered tailgate and automatic climate control. Nissan is simultaneously strengthening its retail and service footprint across India.

The company aims to expand its dealership network to around 250 outlets by the end of FY2027. In 2025, the company crossed 1.2 million cumulative vehicle exports from the country – led by the Made-in-India Magnite which is now sold in over 65 global markets.
