Passenger vehicle sales of Tata Motors hit an all-time high in September 2025 with Nexon leading the tally at over 22,500 units
Tata Motors finished off the month of September on a historic high with wholesale volumes climbing to 60,907 units with the domestic tally at 59,667 units. The figure shows a huge 47 per cent jump when compared to the same period last year courtesy of the combined impact of GST 2.0 rate cuts and festive season demand.
As a domino effect, the surge has also delivered Tata its best-ever monthly tally in passenger vehicles including electric cars. The momentum wasn’t limited to one category as you might expect as the company’s eco-friendly portfolio registered record-breaking traction with electric vehicle sales nearly doubled to 9,191 units – up 96 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
Its CNG vehicles breached 17,800 units as it more than doubled over Q2 FY25 levels. Among individual models, the Nexon emerged as the star performer with over 22,500 units dispatched across India last month. The SUV recorded the highest ever monthly sales for any Tata Motors passenger vehicle to date too.

The Nexon has been a consistent seller for the homegrown manufacturer over the years and is offered in an expansive range. Tata has slashed the prices of the Nexon by up to Rs. 1.55 lakh following the revised GST slabs to lure in buyers and pass on the direct benefits. It is powered by a 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine with manual and automatic transmission choices.
The Harrier and Safari also registered their best-ever combined performance thanks to the arrival of the Adventure X trims and other updates over the years. Meanwhile, the Punch continued to consolidate its popularity in the micro SUV segment. In the second quarter of FY26, Tata clocked cumulative sales of 1,44,397 units with a growth of 10 per cent over Q2 FY25’s 1,30,753 units.

Resultantly, EVs now contribute 17 per cent of its overall sales.
Overseas shipments surged 396 per cent in September to 1,240 units while quarterly exports jumped over 400 per cent year-on-year. Tata Motors says it is entering H2 FY26 with a strong booking pipeline, improved supply chain agility and buoyant festive demand.
