New Gen Kia Seltos will more likely make its international debut sometime next year before going on sale in markets like India
A next-generation Kia Seltos prototype, heavily disguised, has been spotted on test runs recently giving us a sneak-peek into what is about to come. It is set to bring a thorough redesign with one of the biggest additions expected to be a hybrid powertrain option further down the line. The second generation Kia Seltos will more likely make its global debut sometime in 2026.
The camouflaged prototype seen on Indian roads highlights several design revisions – pointing towards a new look taking inspiration from the brand’s overseas SUV lineup including Sorento. Key elements are vertically stacked LED headlamps, a reshaped grille with revised air intakes, sharper body creases and prominent vertical LED Daytime Running Lights.
Together, these cues indicate that the next-gen model is moving towards a more aggressive and thoroughly reworked front fascia. Other cosmetic enhancements include a set of new alloy wheels, triangular-shaped rear quarter glass, redesigned bumpers at both ends and revised taillight graphics. Additionally, the brand is expected to introduce new exterior colour options to round off the visual overhaul.

The overall dimensions of the second-gen Seltos seem to remain the same but the cabin will receive a major revamp. Kia is expected to rework the dashboard and centre console layout while incorporating premium materials and new surface treatments. The SUV may get more connected car features along with a package of active safety systems and driver assistance technologies.
Rumours also indicate that Kia might be working on an AWD hybrid variant for certain regions. With many automakers now adopting hybrid systems in the midsize SUV segment, Kia’s likely move in this direction seems logical as it would enhance fuel efficiency while cutting down on emissions.

However, Kia is expected to retain the familiar set of 1.5L petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines for the upcoming Seltos in markets like India at least initially. The bigger highlight could be the introduction of a hybrid option which could employ a battery, an electric motor and the 1.5L NA petrol mill.
Speculation points to a self-charging system – potentially drawing from the technology already deployed in global models. The South Korean auto major has not been enduring as high a sales volume monthly as before from the Seltos in India currently and thus the arrival of a brand new model holds plenty of significance.
