Navi Mumbai Will Host Bengaluru Matches: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has dropped Bengaluru as a host city for next month’s Women’s ODI World Cup, shifting fixtures to Navi Mumbai after the M Chinnaswamy Stadium failed to secure security and administrative clearances.

Now, the DY Patil Stadium will host up to five games, one being the inaugural match, and also one semifinal and the final on November 2. Bengaluru’s omission follows a June 4 stampede outside the Chinnaswamy, during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory celebrations, in which 11 people died. An inquiry later deemed the venue’s structure unsafe for large gatherings, forcing the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to advise the Karnataka State Cricket Association to seek fresh clearances, a process left incomplete within ICC deadlines.

ICC chairman Jay Shah acknowledged the late reshuffle but stressed confidence in the revised schedule.

Navi Mumbai’s growing prominence in women’s cricket, through international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League, was cited in its selection. Other venues are Indore, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo among the host centres. Colombo, as agreed earlier this year, will serve as neutral ground for India-Pakistan matches, with neither board willing to tour the other.
