A devastating cloudburst struck Dharali village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand early Tuesday morning around 5:30 AM, triggering flash floods that swept through the area with terrifying force. The sudden deluge washed away several homes, guesthouses, and farmlands, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair.
As per initial reports, at least four people have lost their lives, while many others remain missing. The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed as rescue operations continue under challenging conditions.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police, and volunteers have been deployed to the affected area. However, continuous rainfall and debris are hindering rescue and relief efforts. The mountainous terrain has made accessibility difficult, but aerial support has been sought to reach cut-off zones.
Officials stated that emergency shelters have been set up in nearby areas for the displaced families, and medical aid is being provided to the injured.
