Most wickets in the Asia Cup: The Men’s Asia Cup is a continental tournament, which is organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The tournament takes place every two years, where the winner gets crowned as the champion of Asia. India boycotted the 1986 edition due to tensions with Sri Lanka, while Pakistan boycotted the 1990–91 tournament because of political issues with India. Since 2009, the ICC has officially recognized all matches of the tournament as ODIs or T20Is.

In 2025, the 17th Men’s Asia Cup, currently known as the DP World Asia Cup for sponsorship purposes, is going to be played in the UAE from 9 to 28 September 2025 in the T20I format. The 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will be streamed live in India on the Sony LIV app.

The Asia Cup 2025 will feature 8 Asian cricket teams, in which teams like Oman, Hong Kong, and the UAE were able to qualify for the tournament because of their ranking as the top three of the 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup. Meanwhile, teams like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have automatically qualified for the tournament as five complete ACC members.

Right behind him is Lasith Malinga, also from Sri Lanka, with 29 wickets in just 14 matches, including three five-wicket hauls. Ajantha Mendis had one of the best strike rates, claiming 26 wickets in only 8 games with an astonishing average of 10.42. Among others, Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal and India’s Ravindra Jadeja have 25 wickets each, while Chaminda Vaas, Irfan Pathan, and Sanath Jayasuriya made key contributions for Sri Lanka and India. Bangladesh also features Abdur Razzak and Shakib Al Hasan, who both have 22 wickets.

The leading wicket-taker in Asia Cup T20 history is India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 13 wickets in 6 matches with a superb average of 9.46. 

Following them are UAE fast bowlers Amjad Javed and Mohammad Naveed, who made a big impression in the 2016 tournament by taking 12 and 11 wickets each. Rashid Khan, the Afghanistani bowler, and Hardik Pandya from Team India also have 11 wickets each, similary, Al-Amin Hossain from Bangladesh has also taken 11 wickets in just 5 games in 2016. Other notable performers include Wanindu Hasaranga for Sri Lanka with 9 wickets and Pakistan’s Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, and Haris Rauf, with 8 wickets each.
