Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will go on sale around September 2025 and it will be sold via Nexa dealerships with two battery options

Maruti Suzuki is laying down an extensive plan to future-proof its service ecosystem as it inches closer to launching its first all-electric model, the e Vitara. Expecting the changing demands of EV ownership, the carmaker is targeting a total of 8,000 service touchpoints across India by FY31 – up from the current count of over 5,400.

To ensure readiness for electric mobility, over 1,500 workshops exclusively tailored to EVs are being introduced across the network. These centres will be staffed by technicians specifically trained to handle electric components and high voltage systems while also being outfitted with the equipment necessary for electric vehicle diagnostics and service procedures.

The carmaker’s vast reach already makes it India’s most widespread service provider. A recent benchmark saw Maruti Suzuki servicing 24.5 lakh vehicles within just one month – a testament to the its operational scale and footprint. The e Vitara is reportedly heading toward a market launch around September 2025 to capitalise on festive season furore.

Its retail operations have been planned via Nexa dealership chain. As per reports, the company is preparing to scale up production rapidly in the six-month period from October 2025 to March 2026, targeting an output that supports its annual volume projection of 67,000 units. It will be rolled out of SMC’s production facility in Gujarat for domestic and overseas markets.

The upcoming midsize electric SUV will be offered in three variants – Delta, Zeta, and Alpha – and will provide buyers with a choice between two battery sizes: a 48.8 kWh unit and a larger 61.1 kWh pack. The latter is expected to deliver a certified driving range of 500 km on a full charge. It will compete with Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6.

Although global models are likely to get all-wheel drive, the version intended for India may come only with front-wheel-drive layout. Fast charging will enable it to replenish from zero to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes. Customers will also have a palette of ten exterior colour options to choose from.
