Maruti Suzuki was expected to surpass 80,000 units in retail sales by the closure of yesterday since the start of Navratri just a few days ago
Maruti Suzuki India is witnessing a remarkable surge in demand this Navratri as retail sales have surged to around 75,000 units in just a few days. The tally was expected to surpass 80,000 units by the closure of yesterday indicating how seasonal enthusiasm and policy changes are driving buyers to showrooms across the country.
The recently implemented GST 2.0 rate reduction appears to be a major catalyst for this spike. Vehicle taxes have been lowered to 18 and 40 per cent from the earlier 28-31 and 43-50 per cent slabs – giving customers a timely reason to upgrade or invest in a new car. The cuts have been an ideal opportunity for buyers and the demand had been building up for some time.
Customer engagement has more than doubled with the company now receiving roughly 80,000 inquiries every day – compared to the usual 40,000 to 45,000. The increase in interest is translating into bookings which have climbed to an impressive 18,000 units daily – further reiterating the brand’s sustained pull among Indian car buyers.

The entry-level segment has seen the most dramatic growth – registering a roughly 50 per cent increase in nationwide bookings. Smaller towns and cities beyond the top 100 have witnessed even steeper growth with demand doubling in these regions. Models such as the Brezza, Dzire, and Baleno are emerging as the most sought-after vehicles.
Given the pace of bookings, Maruti Suzuki has warned that some popular variants may run out of stock within four to five days. The brand has noted that the descending consumers are being encouraged to complete financing and registration quickly to ensure delivery during Navratri as high demand is straining inventories.

Earlier in the week, the very first day under the new GST regime saw Maruti Suzuki retailing 30,000 units alone – setting the tone for a record-breaking festive season. The combo of reduced taxes and positive festive buying sentiments have created a rare alignment of factors for the largest car producer in India.
As the festival continues, automakers are gearing up to manage the surge to ensure timely product deliveries across different market tiers.
