Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be offered with two battery choices and the claimed range will be up to 543 km between charges
Maruti Suzuki is set to begin its electrification journey with the launch of the e Vitara in India next month. The midsize electric SUV will be retailed exclusively through the brand’s Nexa dealership network and will herald Maruti’s first fully electric SUV offering for domestic buyers. Positioned in one of the fastest-growing EV segments, the e Vitara is expected to be priced slightly above Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
Even before its Indian market debut, the e Vitara has already entered mass production at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility. Units built here are being exported to several international markets via Pipavav Port. The company has also announced plans to support EV adoption by contributing to the creation of over one lakh public charging points across India by the end of this decade.
The electric SUV is said to achieve a claimed range of up to 543 km on a single charge and it supports fast charging too. Powering the e Vitara are two LFP battery options sourced from BYD. Buyers can choose between a 48.8 kWh pack paired with a 144 PS motor producing 192.5 Nm, or a larger 61.1 kWh battery delivering 174 PS with the same torque output. Both variants support DC fast charging, enabling a 0 to 80 per cent recharge in around 50 minutes.
The SUV is underpinned by Maruti’s dedicated Heartect-e electric platform. Equipment highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, seven airbags and a connected car suite.

Level 2 ADAS is also offered bringing features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has already secured a five-star Bharat NCAP rating. It scored 31.49 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 for child safety – placing it among the safest electric SUVs.
