Mahindra is planning to unveil four new concepts and a brand new platform at the event in Mumbai scheduled for August 15
Mahindra & Mahindra will unveil new concept vehicles on August 15 during the Freedom_NU event in Mumbai. One of the main highlights will be the near-production electric Thar concept which will attract notable attention. The event will also witness the public debut of a newly developed architecture which will exclusively underpin Mahindra’s future SUV portfolio.
The event will feature a total of four new concept models – Vision S, Vision T, Vision X and Vision SXT. Among them, the Vision SXT builds upon Mahindra’s Global Pik Up concept first unveiled at the Futurescape event in South Africa. The lifestyle pickup truck adopts an evolved Scorpio N-inspired design language indicating a range of potential upgrades.
The Vision S concept seems to preview an all-electric iteration of the Scorpio N. The teasers highlight several utility-oriented touches including a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a sideways-opening rear door and a distinctive trapezoidal grab handle. Notably, the tail lamps have been repositioned lower – appearing to be integrated into the bumper instead of flanking the rear window.

The Vision X concept will serve as a precursor to the XEV 7e – a model that has already been spotted testing on several occasions. Based on the XUV.e8 concept, it will have several similarities with the IC-engined XUV700. Alongside this, heavily camouflaged prototypes believed to be the next generation Bolero have been seen across multiple regions – further fuelling speculation about its impending market debut.
While the event is fast approaching, Mahindra has yet to officially confirm whether the new Bolero will be part of the lineup. However, teaser activity in the days leading up to the event seems likely. It could be powered by a 1.5L diesel engine with more power and torque compared to the one seen in the existing Bolero Neo.

The near-production Thar EV concept is expected to retain its overall design and proportions when it eventually hits the market. Mahindra has not confirmed an exact launch timeline but the company’s efforts to bring electric versions of both the Scorpio N and Thar appear to be advancing well. Production-spec models of the two SUVs could make their debut within the next two years.
