The Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift is expected to launch before the end of this year or in early 2026 with a host of revisions inside and out

Spotted wearing camouflage, the three-door version of the Mahindra Thar is undergoing testing – pointing to an incoming update. While no official announcement has been made, early indicators suggest that the changes could mirror some elements already seen on the well received Thar Roxx. The visual tweaks might not be extensive as it will only be a mid-cycle update.

Only minor revisions to the exterior styling are expected – most likely in areas such as the front grille, bumpers or lighting system. On the inside, Mahindra could be preparing a mild refresh too. Features that debuted on the Thar Roxx might be carried over to the three-door model as software upgrades, new trim textures and hardware additions are likely.

The infotainment system is also expected to get some level of attention. From a mechanical point of view, the powertrain range is unlikely to see any significant change. The 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine currently puts out 117 bhp and 300 Nm while a 2.0L turbo petrol engine develops 150 bhp max power and 320 Nm of peak torque.

The 2.2L diesel powertrain produces 130 bhp and 300 Nm. Both six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic transmissions are offered with 2WD and 4WD configurations. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is packed with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, AdrenoX, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Harman Kardon audio and Level 2 ADAS.

Other highlights automatic climate control, wireless charging facility, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, panoramic sunroof, six airbags, a 360-degree camera and so on. Some of these features that are not available in the regular Thar could trickle down to the facelift and thus its pricing could become slightly more premium.

Mahindra is also preparing a facelift for the XUV700, as evident from the recent spy images. Both the ICE offerings are expected to launch before the end of 2025 or early next year in India. Meanwhile, the new generation Bolero Neo based on a brand new ladder frame and redesigned exterior and interior will more likely arrive as early as August.
