As many as four new EVs priced in the 10-20 lakh range expected to arrive in showrooms in the next two months
Domestic players Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors are among the country’s top players on the EV front, offering some of the most extensive line-ups in the market. Soon, they will launch a new EV, further expanding their portfolio. Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest automaker, will launch its first electric car around the same time.
Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that it will introduce a new EV in November. This model will be the company’s fourth electric SUV following the XUV400, which competes with the Hyundai Creta Electric, and the BE 6 and XEV 9e launched earlier this year.
The upcoming Mahindra EV is expected to be either the XEV 7e or the XUV 3XO EV. The XEV 7e will give customers a pure electric alternative to the XUV700, offering three-row seating suitable for large families.

The large SUV is expected to come with features and specifications similar to the XEV 9e, but it won’t be as good on the range front due to obvious reasons. The 3XO EV will be the brand’s Tata Nexon.ev rival, positioned below the XUV400.
Tata Motors plans to introduce not one but two EVs this quarter. The company will launch an updated Punch.ev along with the facelifted Punch, expected to arrive in November. The new Punch.ev will likely have a larger battery pack that allows customers to travel greater distances. The current model’s largest available 35 kWh battery pack maxes out at 365 km.

In December, Tata Motors will launch the Sierra.ev, its new Hyundai Creta Electric rival. Featuring a masculine exterior with a practical four-door layout, the Sierra.ev will be designed to appeal the masses. Inside, while spy shots have already confirmed an industry-first triple-screen setup, there are rumours of a lounge version with four seats, with which it could truly stand out in the crowded mid-size SUV segment.
Maruti Suzuki also plans to launch its Hyundai Creta Electric rival in December – the e Vitara. The company has already started production, but currently it is manufacturing the EV only for export markets. With features like seven airbags, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-way power driver’s seat, and 40:20:40-split, sliding and reclining rear seats, it will be the most advanced Maruti Suzuki launched to date.
