Kanpur to Become India’s Next EV Powerhouse with ₹700 Crore, 500-Acre Electric Vehicle Park Under Vision 2030
Kanpur is gearing up to become a major node in India’s electric mobility revolution. Under the ambitious Vision 2030 plan led by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), the city will soon host a massive ₹700 crore Electric Vehicle (EV) Park spanning 500 acres near Bhimsen, strategically positioned along the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). This bold initiative is a cornerstone of Uttar Pradesh’s industrial strategy to transform Kanpur into a globally competitive EV manufacturing and innovation hub.
The EV Park will be developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, ensuring world-class infrastructure, private sector expertise, and efficient execution. This park is designed to not only attract large-scale manufacturers but also foster a thriving ecosystem for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups in the EV space.
The facility will integrate a full spectrum of EV production capabilities, including manufacturing units for electric motors, chassis systems, high-strength steel components, lithium-ion cells, battery packs, chargers, controllers, and other essential electronic parts. The park will also include an advanced R&D center dedicated to innovation in green mobility technologies, enhancing the pace of indigenous product development and ensuring long-term competitiveness.
Furthermore, a dedicated EV components cluster will serve as a launchpad for local entrepreneurs and technology startups. This ecosystem will empower local talent, stimulate skill development, and generate substantial employment opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, research, and logistics.
From a logistics perspective, Kanpur’s proximity to the DFC ensures seamless connectivity for domestic and international trade. This strategic location positions the EV Park as a supply chain enabler for OEMs and tier-1 suppliers targeting both Indian and global markets.
By anchoring a robust EV ecosystem, the park is expected to catalyze Kanpur’s economic diversification, attract further investments, and place the city firmly on the global map of sustainable industrialization. It aligns perfectly with India’s broader goal of becoming a global EV manufacturing leader while transitioning toward cleaner, greener mobility solutions.
This transformative leap is not just about infrastructure — it’s about creating a sustainable future where Kanpur becomes synonymous with innovation, electric mobility, and economic resurgence.
