Boasting more than two decades of experience across marquee automotive companies, Ravi Sharma now takes charge of steering Toyota’s communication and branding roadmap

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has appointed Ravi Sharma as its new General Manager for Public Relations and Communications – placing an industry veteran with two decades of experience at the forefront of its brand engagement efforts. The announcement comes as Toyota looks to consolidate its market presence further on the back of impressive sales volumes in recent times.

Sharma is certainly a popular figure in the automotive industry. His longest stint was with Hyundai Motor India where he helped shape the company’s communication playbook during some of its most successful launches from mass-market models like the i20, Grand i10, Creta and Verna to premium models such as the Alcazar.

He was also closely involved in introducing Hyundai’s EV range which includes the Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 – giving him valuable exposure to the emerging electric vehicle landscape. Before moving to Toyota, Sharma headed Group Communications & Branding at Spark Minda. Earlier in his career, he also worked with Honda Cars India – adding further perspective to his already deep automotive communications background.

His new mandate at Toyota Kirloskar will cover external communications, media strategy and brand storytelling with a clear emphasis on aligning messaging with Toyota’s global pillars.

The timing of this appointment is significant as Toyota pushes its hybrid technology more aggressively in India and prepares the ground for a stronger EV presence and effective communication will play a significant role in shaping customer perception and market positioning.
