How Much Alimony Mohammed Shami Will Pay: The lawyers of Hasin Jahan, the estranged wife of the Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, have claimed victory following the directive set by the Calcutta High Court on the alimony settlement. However, they feel that upon the conclusion of the maintenance hearing, the alimony amount could be increased, given that Shami is one of the highest-earning athletes in the country.

The dispute between Shami and Hasin has been going on for many years, with her previously claiming that the Indian pacer had cheated on her on away tours, and she also accused him of domestic violence and dowry harassment.

The couple got married in 2014 and had a daughter in 2015. Things took a disastrous turn a few years later, and both have been involved in police and court hearings for years.

Jahan was a model before marrying Shami, and then turned into a housewife. She has asked for a hefty alimony upon separation, citing that Shami halted her modeling career.

In 2023, the district sessions court ordered Mohammed Shami to pay ₹50,000 to his wife and ₹80,000 to his daughter on a monthly basis. Jahan then moved to the Calcutta High Court, asking for more compensation, and her wish has been granted.

The Calcutta High Court has directed Mohammed Shami to pay ₹1.5 lakh monthly to his ex-wife Hasin Jahan and ₹2.5 lakh monthly for the daughter,” lawyer Imtiaz Ahmed told ANI.

“In my considered opinion, a sum of Rs. 1,50,000/- per month to the petitioner no.1(wife) and Rs. 2,50,000/- to her daughter would be just fair and reasonable to ensure financial stability for both the petitioners,” the high court said in its order.

Jahan’s lawyer is optimistic that this amount will be increased. He added, “There is a high chance that when they return to the trial court to conclude the hearing on maintenance, it might be upgraded to ₹6 lakh because the claim of Hasin Jahan in her maintenance application was for ₹7 lakh and ₹3 lakh.”

Jahan told ANI, “God has forgiven the biggest criminals. He [Shami] cannot see the protection, future, and happiness of his daughter. He should also give up his stubbornness of wanting to ruin Hasin Jahan’s life. He cannot destroy me because I am on the path of justice while he is on the path of injustice.”

Meanwhile, Shami has made his comeback to action this year following a long injury layoff due to ankle and knee injuries. He made massive contributions to India’s ICC Champions Trophy winning campaign in Dubai and then participated in the IPL for his new franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, Shami wasn’t deemed fit enough for the rigors of Test cricket and hence was not picked for the ongoing Test series in England.
