EXCLUSIVE: Kajol Weighs In On The ‘Last of the Stars’ Debate, Talks About PR!
In a world where social media and constant buzz rule the entertainment scene, the idea of a ‘superstar’ has been widely debated. Are we still in the age of stars, or has the spotlight shifted to storytelling and content?
EXCLUSIVE: Kajol Weighs In On The ‘Last Of The Stars’ Debate
Recently, Maa actress Kajol opened up in an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, where she shared her thoughts on this very question.
The conversation kicked off with a comparison of two very different views from the legendary Khans of Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan once said, “I’m the last of the stars.” On the other hand, Aamir Khan had a more optimistic take: “I don’t believe that we’re the last of the stars. I feel many stars will come after us.” So, what does Kajol think?

Kajol said, “I feel that cinema is about cinema now, more than the stars. Of course, stars are huge. And they definitely make a project what it is. But whether it does well or not – that depends on the film itself. The product itself.”
The film industry has slowly shifted its focus from just the star power to the content of the film. According to Kajol, no matter how famous the actor, the success of a film eventually comes down to the story and its execution.

While talking about her upcoming film Maa, Kajol also praised her husband Ajay Devgn’s approach to filmmaking.
She said, “And if we talk about Maa, I think one great thing about Ajay that I really respect is that he’s always tried to put out a good film. Whether there’s a lot of money or effort. But we’ve always tried to give out a superlative product. And I think we’ve done the same with Maa.”

Why Is PR Necessary – Kajol’s Take!
Kajol and her peers rose to stardom in an era when there was no social media, no constant paparazzi, and no PR machines shaping narratives. So what does she think about the current situation, where PR plays a big role?
“PR is something that we need now. Because of social media, there are just so many voices. So in the middle of all those voices, it’s hard to raise your own for one thing. That’s why we need PR. That’s why we need podcasts and social media. It’s become a necessity.”
