New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing at her Civil Lines residence. The attacker, identified as Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakaria (41) from Rajkot, Gujarat, was immediately arrested by police personnel deployed at the venue.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused struck the Chief Minister on her face before being restrained by security staff. However, BJP leaders have denied the claim of any physical assault.
The Delhi Police have begun interrogating Sakaria to ascertain the motive behind the attack, which remains unclear. Officials confirmed that the Chief Minister sustained no serious injuries and her condition is stable.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the security arrangements for public leaders during open hearings, with political parties strongly condemning the attack.
