Cristiano Ronaldo Close To New Deal With Al Nassr:- Portuguese football great and legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a new contract with his current club, Al-Nassr, in the Saudi Pro League. This comes after reports and speculations that he would leave the club for new ventures following the expiry of his current contract.

The greatest striker of the 21st century, and possibly in the history of football, Ronaldo has played in and dominated leagues across Europe since the early 2000s. He impressed as a young winger in Portugal, became a world-class player in England, winning his first Ballon d’Or with Manchester United, became one of the GOATs of the game in Spain with Real Madrid, dominated Italy with Juventus, and kept up his scoring ways after returning to United.

But then, Ronaldo did something revolutionary. At the age of 37, after his contract with the Red Devils was terminated due to factors outside the football pitch, rather than signing with a lower-level European club or returning to the Portuguese league, CR7 became the highest-paid footballer in the world and signed with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

This is a highly unconventional move for a legend of the sport. And while many people questioned and ridiculed this move, it was hard to argue that taking such a massive paycheck was a bad move. Cristiano’s transfer also started a flood of big-name players from European leagues moving to Saudi Arabia for big paydays.

But it was not only about the money and other perks for Ronaldo, as he could continue scoring a lot of goals in a league that is not quite on the level of some of the bigger European competitions.

Having signed with Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo’s initial contract was set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season, more specifically, at the end of June 2025. So, after his team failed to win the Saudi Pro League last season, finishing third behind Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal, reports emerged that CR7 might leave his current club at the end of his contract.

Before the start of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, speculations rose that he might sign with a team in that competition even before the end of his contract, but that did not happen.

Now, it is all but confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will be re-signing with Al-Nassr. Sources indicate that the two parties are close to finalising a deal.

At the age of 40, it is clear that Ronaldo is in the twilight years of his career. Having scored 938 goals for his club and country, it might seem like he will not reach the mythical ‘1000 goal’ mark. However, the rate he has been scoring in the Saudi Pro League, if he keeps it up for a couple more seasons, that vaunted milestone might be within reach.
