Triumph Speed 400 comes with a revised price of Rs. 2,33,754 – down from Rs. 2,50,551 while the Speed T4 now costs Rs. 1,92,539

Triumph Motorcycles has taken an unexpected but welcome step to lure in customers during the festive season by slashing prices on its Speed range – defying market expectations after the GST on motorcycles above 350 cc rose to 40 per cent. Instead of passing the added tax onto buyers, Triumph, alongside Bajaj Auto, has chosen to absorb the increase.

The Speed 400 now comes with a revised price of Rs. 2,33,754 – down from Rs. 2,50,551 while the Speed T4 is available at Rs. 1,92,539 – reduced from Rs. 2,06,738. The reduced sticker tags translate to savings of nearly Rs. 17,000 – making the models especially appealing during the festive period. They otherwise would have endured a hike of over Rs. 22,000 and thus the savings of nearly Rs. 40,000 are huge in hindsight.

Since FY23–24, Triumph’s Speed line has witnessed rapid growth with monthly sales nearly doubling and within a year of its launch the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X together garnered over 50,000 unit sales and they have been well received in the global markets too. The 400 cc range recently saw an expansion with the debut of the Thruxton 400 with old school cafe racer styling.

Commenting on the price drop, Manik Nangia, President, Probiking, Bajaj Auto Ltd., said: “The Speed 400 and Speed T4 have set benchmarks in performance, design, and accessibility. By absorbing the impact and introducing a price slash, Triumph and Bajaj Auto are reaffirming their focus on the Indian market and its customers, ensuring the Speed range continues to deliver unmatched value.”

The British manufacturer has not announced any such price reduction for the Thruxton as well as Scram 400s. Courtesy of the reduction, the price of the Triumph Speed 400 is just Rs. 10,000 more than the introductory price it carried upon market launch back in 2023. Reports also indicate that Triumph will dig deep into the entry-level middleweight motorcycle category by bringing in a 350 cc offering soon.
