BMW F 450 GS is equipped with a 420 cc parallel-twin engine which is good enough to kick out 48 hp and 43 Nm; packed with modern features and tech
BMW Motorrad is lining up a significant addition to its India portfolio with the F 450 GS – a mid-capacity adventure motorcycle expected to arrive in early 2026. Sitting below the F 850 GS, its series production has already been underway at TVS Motor Company’s Hosur facility. If priced aggressively, the F 450 GS could open BMW’s GS lineup to a much wider audience.
One of the biggest talking points is the motorcycle’s electronics and riding tech. The F 450 GS will come equipped with traction control, cornering ABS, Dynamic Brake Control and engine brake management. Riders can choose between Rain, Road and Enduro riding modes as standard, while Enduro Pro is reserved for higher trims.
A 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation support, heated grips and a USB-C charging port will be on offer. Visually, the F 450 GS stays in line with BMW’s signature GS design philosophy while aiming to be less intimidating than larger GS models. It gets a tall, upright stance, a sharp beak-style front and a distinctive X-shaped LED headlamp. The relatively compact proportions and reduced overall size are intended to improve approachability.

At the core of the package will be a newly developed 420 cc parallel-twin engine featuring a 135-degree crankpin offset. It is designed to add character while keeping vibrations in check through the use of a balance shaft. The motor produces 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch as standard.
A semi-automatic clutch system will also be available while Shift Assistant Pro is standard on the GS Trophy variant and optional on lower trims. The chassis setup has been engineered specifically for this model. An all-new tubular steel frame forms the base with the motorcycle weighing around 178 kg. Suspension is handled by KYB – using 43 mm upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock with adjustability available on select variants.

Braking hardware includes a Brembo front setup – complemented by ByBre components at the rear. BMW will offer the F 450 GS in four variants – Basic, Exclusive, Sport and GS Trophy – each adding more adventure-focused equipment such as off-road footpegs, aluminium bash plates, hand guards, upgraded suspension components and unique colour schemes.
