Bengaluru Airport Gets a Green Boost with SWITCH EiV12 Electric City Buses

Bengaluru has taken a significant step towards sustainable public transportation with the launch of the SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor AC Electric City Buses from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). The initiative, flagged off today by Karnataka’s Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, marks a milestone in the city’s journey toward eco-friendly urban mobility.

The SWITCH EiV12 buses are designed to provide a comfortable, zero-emission, and modern travel experience for passengers commuting to and from the airport. Featuring a low-floor design for easy boarding, fully air-conditioned interiors for passenger comfort, and advanced safety features, these buses are built to deliver both convenience and sustainability.

Manufactured by Switch Mobility, a leading electric bus and commercial EV maker, the EiV12 model offers a quiet ride, longer range per charge, and lower operational costs compared to traditional diesel buses. By replacing fossil fuel-powered vehicles with clean electric alternatives, the project aims to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions while improving the quality of urban transport in Bengaluru.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Ramalinga Reddy highlighted the importance of such green initiatives, stating that electric public transport not only benefits the environment but also enhances the city’s global image as a progressive and tech-driven hub.

Switch Mobility expressed pride in being part of this transformation, emphasizing their mission to accelerate India’s shift toward cleaner, smarter, and greener urban travel.

With these new electric buses now operational on airport routes, passengers can look forward to a quieter, smoother, and more sustainable journey—setting the tone for the future of mobility in India’s tech capital.
