Ather Energy Expands ‘Ather Grid’ to Over 400 Charging Points in Tamil Nadu, Boosts EV Infrastructure

Bengaluru-headquartered electric vehicle (EV) pioneer Ather Energy has achieved a significant milestone in its charging infrastructure expansion, announcing that its ‘Ather Grid’ fast-charging network has now surpassed 400 charging points across Tamil Nadu. This growth comes as part of the company’s mission to address range anxiety and accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in the state.

The latest figures reveal that Tamil Nadu now hosts a total of 480 fast charging points, a number that includes over 50 LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) chargers. The LECCS standard, developed in-house by Ather Energy, represents a major step toward interoperability in the EV sector. It enables different brands of light electric vehicles — including electric scooters, bikes, and other light EV formats — to access and benefit from the same charging network, making EV ownership more convenient and accessible.

With Tamil Nadu emerging as a manufacturing and adoption hub for electric vehicles, Ather’s investment in charging infrastructure is set to have a far-reaching impact. The company’s ‘Ather Grid’ network not only supports Ather’s own fleet of high-performance electric scooters but also aims to serve the broader EV ecosystem, reducing the dependency on brand-specific charging stations.

Ather Energy’s continued expansion reflects its commitment to building a future-ready charging infrastructure in India. By making chargers more available and interoperable, the brand is paving the way for faster EV adoption, reducing charging bottlenecks, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Industry experts believe that such large-scale charging availability is a critical enabler for electric mobility growth. As Tamil Nadu strengthens its position as one of India’s leading EV states, initiatives like Ather Grid are likely to play a key role in shaping consumer confidence and supporting the state’s sustainable transport ambitions.
