The finalists of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, India and South Africa, will clash in a five-match T20I series in April in South Africa ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
This will be the last T20I series for Laura Wolvaardt’s team before they head to England for the marquee women’s tournament of the year.
Rarely do teams in women’s cricket play five-match T20I series. But with extra focus on the WT20 World Cup, which will commence on June 12, a five-T20I rubber between India and South Africa has been scheduled and announced.

The five-match T20I series between Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian team and Laura Wolvaardt’s Protea women’s unit will run from April 17 to April 27.
The first two T20Is of the series will be played in Durban, the next two in Johannesburg, and the last T20I will be hosted in Benoni.

After this, while India will play a three-match T20I series against England in England in May, South Africa will not have any more T20Is scheduled before they play the warm-up matches of the Women’s ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
CSA director of national teams and high performance Enoch Nkwe said,
“Facing a team of India’s quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation. It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team’s readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup.”
Prior to this series, South Africa will take on Pakistan in an ODI and T20I series and then tour New Zealand for more white-ball matches before hosting India.
The Women In Blue will travel to Australia for matches in all three formats in February-March before playing the Protea women.
South Africa, who lost last year’s Women’s World Cup final to India, are also the runners-up of the last two editions of the Women’s T20 World Cups, suffering heartbreaking defeats against New Zealand and Australia.
India have never won a Women’s T20 World Cup. They have been runners-up once, in 2020, when they lost the final to Australia at the MCG.
