Over the next 2 to 3 years, Toyota is looking to bring in a host of new models for India and here we highlight the ones possibly arriving soon
Toyota is looking to significantly consolidate its footprint in India as part of its long term plan to introduce around 15 new vehicles by 2030. The next phase of this expansion is expected to begin as early as 2026 with several SUVs, electrified models and refreshed offerings lined up for the domestic market and here is a detailed look at them.
Kicking off Toyota’s electric range will be the Urban Cruiser BEV. Revealed globally a while ago, the five-seater will share its underpinnings and battery technology with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara which is scheduled to go on sale next month. Toyota’s version is expected to deliver a driving range of over 500 km and it will be loaded with equipment as well.
At the same time, Toyota is also expected to update its popular midsize SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The mid-cycle refresh, likely to arrive next year, will focus mainly on visual tweaks and feature additions. The cabin could see meaningful upgrades including the possible introduction of Level 2 ADAS while the existing 1.5-litre mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid petrol powertrains are expected to be carried over unchanged.

Toyota’s global developments are also set to influence its India plans. The recently unveiled all-new Hilux has drawn attention for its bold new design and modernised underpinnings. Developed under Toyota’s “Tough and Agile” design philosophy inspired by the Land Cruiser family, the new pickup adopts a more upright stance, a squared-off front fascia and slimmer connected headlamps. These styling cues are expected to trickle down to the next generation Fortuner.
What further strengthens this possibility is the wide range of powertrain options available on the new Hilux globally including petrol, diesel, 48V mild-hybrid and even a fully electric version. It opens the door for multiple drivetrain choices for the future Fortuner. While Toyota may bring the new Hilux to India next year, the arrival of the next-gen Fortuner around the same time remains a strong possibility.

Moving higher up the ladder, Toyota is also considering the launch of the latest Land Cruiser Prado in India. Expected to arrive as a CBU import sometime next year, the large SUV is built on the TNGA-F ladder-frame platform. It is powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a hybrid system that includes a 1.87 kWh battery and an electric motor.
