Tata Punch facelift (3)

Tata Motors’ most popular car in India to receive a host of cosmetic changes in the first quarter of 2026

Launched in October 2021, the Tata Punch has proved to be a monumental success for the homegrown automaker and has become its best-selling model. The company plans to give it a facelift soon to ensure continued success through the next three to four years.

New spy shots have emerged showing the facelifted Tata Punch in Munnar, Kerala, where it was undergoing high-altitude testing. The images clearly reveal that the updated model will feature a familiar split headlamp setup, but in a new look. Like the Tata Punch.ev, the Tata Punch will now come with LED low- and high-beam units instead of halogen ones. The upgraded lights will likely be integrated into a new vertical housing.

The spy pictures also reveal new upper and lower grilles, both featuring horizontal slats. The front bumper also carries a fresh design, while the bonnet appears to have remained unchanged, featuring a raised section on both sides for a strong road presence. On the sides, Tata Motors is likely to use new 16-inch alloy wheels on the Punch. At the rear, the company is likely to tweak the design of the combination lamps and the bumper.

The interior of the Tata Punch will also get some noticeable revisions, as evident in one of these spy shots. A new, two-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel can be seen, and it will likely feature an illuminated brand logo. The infotainment system appears to have the familiar 10.25-inch touchscreen. Tata Motors may introduce ventilated seats for improved comfort and a 360º camera system and blind spot monitor for enhanced safety.

Tata Motors is unlikely to introduce any mechanical changes in the Punch with the facelift. The company should continue offering it with a 1.2-litre Revotron engine in petrol and bi-fuel petrol-CNG variants. That said, it could extend the availability of the 5-speed automated manual transmission to the bi-fuel variant. The Revotron engine produces 64.6 kW (87 hp) and 115 Nm running on petrol. In CNG mode, its power and torque reduce to 54 kW (72 hp) and 103 Nm, respectively.

The new Tata Punch will likely be priced slightly higher than the current model, which costs INR 5,49,990 (ex-showroom) onwards. It will compete with the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Ignis.
