The midsize SUV segment will see new arrivals from Tata, Kia and Renault within the next 6 to 9 months in India
The midsize SUV space is about to get a serious shake-up. What has long been Hyundai Creta territory is now drawing competition from all directions as manufacturers line up new rivals with latest design philosophies and loaded feature lists. Despite being nearly a decade old, the Creta still sets the tone for the segment but the coming years could finally see its dominance tested.
The next set of action in the segment will come from Tata Motors, Kia and Renault. Tata is set to expand its portfolio with the production-ready Sierra which will sit alongside the Curvv to cover a wider price band. Meanwhile, Renault is gearing up for a major comeback with an all-new Duster – the very SUV that once sparked India’s midsize SUV craze. Here we have listed them:
1. New Gen Tata Sierra:

Tata Motors is preparing to revive the legendary Sierra nameplate in early 2026, this time as a modern all-electric SUV. The Sierra EV will launch first offering two battery pack options with a range of over 500 km between charges. Once the electric version hits the market, Tata is expected to follow it up with an internal combustion variant powered by a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine alongside the proven 2.0-litre diesel.

2. Second Gen Kia Seltos:

The second generation Kia Seltos is steadily moving toward its market debut with multiple test sightings confirming that development is in its final stages. Expected to reach showrooms in the first half of 2026, the SUV will feature a complete design revamp with redesigned bumpers, new headlamp and DRL arrangements, new alloy wheel patterns and updated tail-light graphics. Inside, Kia will look to up its premium status even more.
3. New Gen Renault Duster:
Renault is all set to bring back the Duster nameplate early next year, this time based on the latest-generation global model. The SUV will sit on the heavily localised CMF-B platform which will also underpin a Nissan-badged counterpart in 2026. At launch, the new Duster will more likely offer two petrol engine options.
