2023 Asia Cup Players Who Will Not Play In 2025: The Indian cricket team is the most successful team in the Asia Cup history. The Men In Blue have won a record eight Asia Cup titles, including the inaugural tournament back in 1984 and the latest competition in 2023.
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team won the Asia Cup 2023, which was in the ODI format, by beating Sri Lanka in the final in Colombo.
The upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which will be conducted in T20I format, keeping in mind next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup, will be the 17th iteration of this famed continental tournament.
The Indian team will once again start as favorites, but with several different personnel from the previous tournament. For starters, India’s captain and coach in the 2023 Asia Cup were Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid; now those positions for the Asia Cup 2025 are held by Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir.

Among the other bigger names who were part of the Indian squad in the triumphant Asia Cup 2023 campaign but will not feature in the Asia Cup 2025 are Virat Kohli, who is retired, along with KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj—all three of whom are not part of India’s T20I plans currently.
Siraj was the Man of the Match in the 2023 Asia Cup final against the Lankans but finds himself out of the T20I setup, and that is despite his terrific form during the recent Test tour of England.
India’s 2023 Asia Cup Players Who Will Not Play In 2025
Starting from the top, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are retired from T20Is and hence are not part of the Asia Cup 2025 squad.
KL Rahul, who hit a century against Pakistan two years ago, is out of favor from the T20I team, while Ishan Kishan is dropped from the Indian team across the three formats. Ravindra Jadeja has also retired from T20Is.
From the fast-bowling attack from the 2023 Asia Cup, only Jasprit Bumrah will be part of the 2025 edition: Siraj, Shami, Prasidh Krishna, and Shardul Thakur are all excluded from T20Is currently. They are replaced by the likes of Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh for this year’s Asia Cup.
Another name missing from this year’s Asia Cup squad compared to that two years ago is Shreyas Iyer, whose last T20I appearance came in December 2023.
