For the upcoming white-ball tour of England next month, South Africa’s T20I team has recalled David Miller, Donovan Ferreira, and Keshav Maharaj. The five alterations to the team that recently played Australia also include the return of fast bowler Lizaad Williams (knee) and all-rounder Marco Jansen (thumb) from their respective ailments.

Kagiso Rabada has been included in both white-ball squads and is anticipated to be eligible for a portion of the ODI series as well as the full T20I series that follows. Rabada missed the ODI series in Australia because of inflammation in his right ankle. Rabada’s cover in the ODI team is still left-arm seamer Kwena Maphaka.

From September 2 to 14, South Africa will go to England and Wales to play three ODIs and three T20Is. They won the T20Is 2-1 and drew the ODI series 1-1 during their most recent tour of the UK in 2022.

The ODI team will be led by Bavuma, although his workload will be controlled.

“We’ll reassess Kagiso in England,” stated head coach Shukri Conrad. Although we’re focusing on T20I cricket and will be cautious, we hope he’ll be available for a portion of the ODI series. We’ll give him time to return.

“Just as we did in the current series against Australia, we will continue to control Temba’s workload during the ODI series.

“Having Marco back is fantastic. He bowls both up front and at the end, strikes the ball far, and is an excellent all-format player who balances our team. The strategy was always to use the shortest format to gradually reintegrate him and Lizaad into international cricket.

“David is excited to get started and his comeback for the T20Is gives our lineup further depth.

“Donovan has performed exceptionally well in the leagues in which he has participated. It’s the ideal time for him to return to the national team since we know how devastating he can be at the conclusion of an innings and because of his experience playing in English conditions and in The Hundred.

“Keshav was always a part of our bigger ambitions, and in our most recent T20I series, we were experimenting with the spinning all-rounders. Our spin possibilities are strengthened by his return to the team. In addition to his evident prowess with the ball, he leads the team and maintains composure.
