Yamaha recorded a total of 50,365 units in July 2025 as against 55,838 units with a YoY de-growth of 9.80 per cent in India

Yamaha’s domestic two-wheeler sales last month ended at 50,365 units – recording a year-on-year decline of 9.80 per cent compared to 55,838 units sold in July 2024. While some models continued to show resilience, others witnessed steep drops – pulling down the overall performance. Let’s break down how each product fared for the Japanese auto major.

The Yamaha RayZR emerged as the top-selling model for the brand – clocking 16,421 units in the month of July 2025. It marks an 11.78 per cent growth over 14,690 units sold in the same month last year. It is worth noting that with the strong demand in the scooter segment, the RayZR now commands over one-third of Yamaha’s local volumes.

The FZ series retained its consistent performance – reporting sales of 11,110 units and enduring a marginal rise of 1.33 per cent from 10,964 units posted in July 2024. Despite the modest increase, the FZ continues to be Yamaha’s second-best-selling product, contributing significantly to the brand’s portfolio and it recently saw the arrival of a hybrid version.

However, the Yamaha MT15 faced a setback in July 2025 with sales slipping to 8,514 units against 9,866 units last year. The volume numbers translates to a decline of 13.70 per cent. Similarly, the Yamaha R15 recorded a sharper fall, registering 6,623 units compared to 8,712 units in July 2024 – down by 23.98 per cent. KTM recently introduced MT15 V2’s direct rival, the 160 Duke, while its faired counterpart, the 160 RC is also set to arrive soon.

The most notable decline came from the Yamaha Fascino which fell by 45.78 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Its sales halved to 5,450 units from 10,052 units sold in July 2024. Once considered a consistent player in Yamaha’s scooter lineup, the Fascino now appears to be losing ground to newer rivals and even to Yamaha’s own RayZR.

On the other hand, the Yamaha Aerox 155 delivered a strong performance, growing 44.64 per cent to 2,239 units from 1,548 units in the previous year. The premium offering continues to carve out a niche for itself, appealing to enthusiasts looking for performance-packed scooter. It will also get a new rival in the form of TVS Ntorq 150 soon.

Additionally, the Yamaha R3 / MT03 contributed marginally with 8 units in July 2025 – up from 6 units last year. While scooters like the RayZR and Aerox are fuelling growth, sharp declines in the Fascino, MT15 and R15 have impacted overall volumes for Yamaha last month. Yamaha is expected to launch a new electric scooter in India before the closure of 2025 based on the River Indie.
