Hyundai is expected to bring in a host of new models across different segments over the next 2 years in India

Hyundai is preparing to add new electric vehicles to its range with a series of new battery-powered models slated for local production. The strategy is expected to combine India-focused products with global offerings and sticking by the trend, SUVs will take centre stage. The brand is working towards deeper localisation for its future EVs.

By the close of this decade, Hyundai intends to launch as many as 26 new products in India as part of its long-term roadmap. It will largely be driven by internal combustion offerings with 20 models expected to rely on conventional engines. Alongside them, six all-electric vehicles are planned too as the brand looks to strengthen its stand locally.

There is rumour that Hyundai may give rise to EV iterations of the Venue and i10 in the near future. On a parallel track, the next-gen Venue is expected to make its debut around the festive season – bringing with it updated styling, a revamped cabin and added technology. Reports also indicate that a new compact SUV inspired by the Bayon could be in the works.

The carmaker has been steadily laying the foundation for its future EV growth by investing in charging infrastructure across key regions. At present, the brand’s electric portfolio here is limited to the Creta Electric and the Ioniq 5. Looking ahead, the Ioniq 9 is set to be introduced as the flagship offering in the country in the near future.

Hyundai is said to be evaluating a compact e-SUV for India derived from the Inster EV with a possible market entry in 2026. A refreshed Creta Electric could follow by 2027 as part of its mid-cycle update. Meanwhile, the company’s internal combustion portfolio will remain active with updated iterations of volume sellers.

Hyundai is reportedly advancing plans to introduce hybrid technology across its mainstream portfolio. By 2027, the next-generation Creta and an all-new three-row SUV positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson are expected to debut with hybrid powertrains. They will likely use the familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine as the foundation.

The Palisade is also being considered for India according to recent reports. As mentioned, the South Korean auto major looks to be bringing in the third generation Venue in the coming months and it will continue with the 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel powertrains with manual and automatic transmission options. Features such as Level 2 ADAS and others will be added.
