Daren Sammy Accuse Third Umpire Of Bias:- Daren Sammy Accuse Third Umpire Of Bias against West Indies: West Indies head coach Daren Sammy tore into the third umpire (or TV umpire) of the ongoing WI vs AUS 1st Test match in Barbados for a couple of decisions made against the home side that clearly were incorrect.
While the theme of pacers dominating the match from day 1 continued on day 2 of the WI vs AUS 1st Test, a major talking point was the decisions made by TV umpire Adrian Holdstock against West Indies batsmen Roston Chase and Shai Hope.
Chase was given out lbw off Pat Cummins even though the West Indies believe Chase had inside-edged the ball that could be seen on replays. Shockingly, the third umpire was heard saying that he could see a gap between the bat and the ball.
Hope inside-edged Beau Webster through to wicket-keeper Alex Carey, who took a terrific one-handed catch diving to his left, but the ball touched the ground as he completed his dive. The third umpire gave this out too, once again leaving the West Indies baffled, because a similar instance of Travis Head’s catch during Australia’s first innings by Hope was given not out.

The decisions are not fair enough: Daren Sammy Accuse Third Umpire Of Bias Against West Indies
While none of the West Indies players have so far made any comment on the third umpire’s decisions, their coach Daren Sammy lashed out at Holdstock, suggesting that Holdstock had previously too given contentious decisions against the West Indies when they toured England.
Sammy said, “I have noticed, especially with this particular umpire, it’s something that for me started in England. It’s frustrating. I just ask for consistency in the decision-making.”
He added, “Yeah, look, you don’t want to get yourself in a situation where you’re wondering about certain umpires. Is there something against this team? But when you see decision after decision, then it raises the question. I know he’s here for the series. You don’t want to go in a Test match having that doubt.
It has been learned that Sammy met with match referee Javagal Srinath after play on day 2 in Barbados to talk about the third umpire’s controversial calls.
Referring to Hope’s dismissal and Head’s non-dismissal, Sammy asserted, “I’m just saying, judge what you see. If you see the same thing and one is not out, there is even more doubt on the other one than you give it out. Again, I don’t know what he’s seen, but from the images that we’ve seen, the decisions are not fair enough for both teams. We’re all humans. Mistakes will be made. I just want fairness.”
The West Indies can lodge a formal complaint against Adrian Holdstock. “You’ll have to wait and see for that,” the WI coach concluded.
Meanwhile, after 14 wickets on day 1, 10 wickets fell on day 2. West Indies were bowled out for 190, taking a slender lead of 10 runs. In their second innings, Australia are 92/4 with Head and Webster at the crease.
