Tata is aiming to almost double the size of its current portfolio by introducing 30 new models across electric and internal combustion engine segments
Tata Motors detailed plans to significantly strengthen its passenger vehicle portfolio recently. The roadmap includes new nameplates and updated versions of existing models stretching across various categories. The carmaker aims to introduce 30 new products before 2030 draws to a close.
Seven out of the projected thirty models will wear all-new badges. The company is looking to almost double its current product range with the combination of ICE and electric vehicles. The aggressive rollout comes as the competition for the second spot in India’s overall passenger vehicle sales intensifies between Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra.
Both Hyundai and Mahindra are preparing to unleash a series of new offerings over the next five years, making the segment more fiercely contested than ever. Tata’s move appears aimed at tightening its hold while staying future-ready. Tata has already kickstarted its product blitz with the launch of the Harrier EV and the refreshed Altroz.

Next in line is the return of the Sierra badge, reimagined for today’s buyer in both electric and internal combustion forms – slated to debut later this financial year. Tata plans to introduce the high-end Avinya range in order to carve out a more premium footprint next up. The updated Punch and the new-gen Nexon are also among the 23 internal combustion models currently under development.
Tata has earmarked up to Rs 35,000 crore for its passenger vehicle division between FY2026 and FY2030 reiterating its long term product and technology roadmap. The capital injection will not only fund new model development but also support advancements in next-gen powertrains, electronics systems and in-house software capabilities.

As part of this strategy, the Harrier and Safari are expected to gain a brand new petrol engine option before the current financial year draws to a close. Tata’s upcoming 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is expected to churn out 168 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque, marking a significant addition to the brand’s powertrain arsenal. The facelifted Punch EV is also under development.
