Tata has embarked on a new strategy to bring in as many as 23 new offerings by 2030 and here we focus on the upcoming brand new nameplates

Tata Motors is bracing for a major product blitz with a roadmap that runs all the way to 2030. As part of this aggressive roadmap, the company is preparing to launch over 15 models spanning both ICE and EV categories. While the lineup will include updates and facelifts, what catches attention is that seven of these will be all-new nameplates.

And it’s these new additions that will form the core of Tata’s future strategy and our focus here. Among the upcoming models from Tata are the production version of the Sierra and the final road-going form of the Avinya concept – both of which have been showcased in various stages already. These latter will serve as a flagship premium product representing the brand’s next generation electric vehicle strategy.

The homegrown brand is looking to bring back the iconic Sierra nameplate before the end of the ongoing financial year. The new-gen Sierra will be offered in both electric and petrol variants with the EV version set to hit the market first. The internal combustion version is expected to feature the new 1.5-litre TGDI four-cylinder petrol engine which generates approximately 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque.

In addition, Tata could also offer the proven 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine currently powering the Harrier and Safari delivering 170 PS and 350 Nm. The ICE Sierra will get both manual and automatic transmission choices. In addition to the confirmed models, several unannounced vehicles are also in the pipeline as indicated by details shared during a recent dealer meet.

These include two ICE-powered models currently codenamed ICE Product A and ICE Product B along with two EVs under development, internally referred to as EV Product X and EV Product Y. To support its expanding portfolio and product roadmap, the automaker has committed an investment of nearly Rs. 35,000 crore.

Tata is expected to launch a new compact SUV, rumoured to be called the Tata Scarlet, as part of its upcoming product range. Alongside this, the company may establish the Avinya nameplate as a distinct sub-brand which would accommodate a variety of body styles beginning in 2027. The Avinya range will be based on the EMA platform which Tata plans to localise in India to keep production costs in check.
