As rivalry in the compact category intensifies, manufacturers are focussing on bringing in electrified powertrains, modern safety technologies and equipment packages. Brands are gearing up to meet rising buyer expectations without pushing past the Rs. 10 lakh threshold by further enhancing VFM proposition. Here is a closer look at some of the most awaited compact cars set to arrive soon within that crucial price bracket:
1. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid:
Maruti Suzuki will reportedly introduce a hybrid version of the Fronx in the near future, bringing electrification to its coupe-style compact SUV. At the heart of the setup will be the 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine coupled with a smart hybrid system to boost fuel economy and lower emissions. It may as well get ADAS treatment as in some global markets.
2. Tata Punch EV Facelift:
Tata Motors could be preparing to launch an updated version of the Punch EV. While the overall silhouette will remain familiar, the facelifted model may sport subtle changes to the exterior. Inside, the feature list is expected to see meaningful upgrades, further strengthening its value proposition. It will have to be waited and seen whether the claimed range will go up or not.
3. New Hyundai Venue:
Hyundai is gearing up to roll out the next generation Venue during the upcoming festive season in India. The compact SUV will see a thorough rework in terms of design both outside and inside with sharper styling cues and a more upmarket cabin layout. Despite the cosmetic and equipment enhancements, the existing engine lineup is likely to carry over unchanged as the 1.0L turbo petrol, the 1.2L NA petrol and the 1.5L diesel engines may stay put. However, the big news could come in the form of new safety tech with Level 2 ADAS potentially joining the feature list, alongside a wider set of comfort and convenience additions.
4. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV:
Mahindra is inching closer to introducing the electric version of the XUV 3XO which is expected to go on sale in the coming months. Slotting beneath the XUV400 in the company’s electric portfolio, this upcoming compact EV will target rivals such as the Tata Punch EV. While detailed technical specifications remain under wraps, early expectations suggest that the XUV 3XO EV will offer a range somewhere close to 450 km on a full charge.
5. Renault Kiger Facelift:
Renault is preparing to take the wraps off the updated Kiger with camouflaged test mules already spotted several times in recent months. The upcoming facelift is expected to introduce cosmetic changes to the exterior. Interior revisions are also likely with added equipment and tech updates However, the mechanical package is expected to remain unchanged.
6. Nissan Compact MPV:
The Renault Triber based compact MPV from Nissan will be launched in early 2026 and it will be powered by a 1.0L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. It will stick by the latest design philosophy followed by Nissan in the global markets and will get flexible seating. The interior is also expected to pack a number of modern features.
