In the next 12-15 months, at least six new 7-seater cars will be launched in the Indian market from leading brands like Nissan, Renault and Mahindra

The festive season of Diwali has started rather well for the Indian automotive industry with high footfall in most of the showrooms. The price reduction due to GST 2.0 has further fueled the demand along with massive discounts announced by various brands. We will also see several new 7-seater cars going on sale in the coming few months in India, which include both MPV and SUV models. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the new upcoming 7-seater cars in 2025-26 in the Indian market.

1. Tata Safari Petrol

Tata Motors is planning to roll out a petrol-powered version of the Safari 7-seater SUV in the domestic market. It will be launched alongside the Harrier petrol around Nov-Dec 2025. Tata Safari petrol will be powered by a new 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged TGDi engine which generates top power of 170 bhp and peak torque of 280 Nm. It will be available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options. The new petrol engine will be E20 fuel ready and BS6 Phase II compliant.

2. Mahindra XEV 7e

Dubbed as the 7-seater version of the XEV 9e, the all-electric SUV is likely to break cover by the end of 2025. It will be the third born-electric SUV from Mahindra after the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Though the market launch is still a few months away, the all-electric SUV has already been leaked online. The leaked images reveal that it will have a rather conventional design as compared to the radical styling of the XEV 9e. Needless to state, it will share the platform, powertrain and battery packs (59 kWh and 79 kWh) with the XEV 9e.

3. New Nissan 7-seater MPV

Nissan will launch a B-segment 7-seater MPV in early 2026 to directly rival Renault Triber in India. It has already been teased by the brand and we can confirm that the new Nissan 7-seater MPV will come with a distinct design language while based on the same platform as Renault Triber. The new MPV is likely to be under 4 metres in length. Under the hood, it could come equipped with the naturally-aspirated 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine which generates top power of 72 bhp and highest torque of 96 Nm while paired to manual and automatic gearbox options.

4. Mahindra XUV 7OO facelift

Internally codenamed as W616, the 2026 Mahindra XUV 7OO facelift has begun testing and it is expected to go on sale by mid of next year. The facelifted version of the SUV will get cosmetic makeover with restyled bumpers, grille and alloy wheels. The cabin is likely to feature a two-spoke steering wheel and 10.2-inch triple-screen setup for driver’s digital display, central touchscreen infotainment system and front passenger. Both of these will be borrowed from the XEV 9e. Mechanically, the 2026 XUV 7OO will remain the same with the current crop of engine and gearbox choices.

5. New Renault 7-seater SUV

Renault will launch a 7-seater SUV based on the Duster by the end of 2026 in the Indian market. The 7-seater model will be heavily inspired by the Duster, which is expected to go on sale in the next 6 months in the country. Since the 7-seater SUV from Renault is almost a year away, details are scarce at the moment but we have learnt that it will share the cabin, features and powertrains with the Duster. The new Renault 7-seater SUV will lock horns with Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7OO and MG Hector Plus.

6. New Nissan 7-seater SUV

Recently, Saurabh Vatsa – Managing Director, Nissan India, confirmed that the Japanese brand will launch an all-new 7-seater SUV in the country in early 2027. It will be the cross-badged version of Renault’s 7-seater SUV model. However, it will have its own identity in terms of styling and cabin. Despite sharing the same architecture and engine options, Nissan’s 7-seater SUV will be different due to unique design and comfort creatures. So, with the launch of this 7-seater SUV in early 2027, the company will have a total of 4 models on sale in India.
