Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Toyota and Mahindra are expected to introduce new midsize electric SUVs sooner rather than later and here we have listed them

India’s midsize electric SUV segment will witness a major expansion with four significant launches lined up over the next six months. Automakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Toyota and Mahindra are preparing to introduce all-new battery-powered SUVs in an aim to make a huge impact.

Considering the good reception for midsize SUVs, these manufacturers are looking to garner customers in aplenty with these new arrivals. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming models.

1. Mahindra XEV 9S:

Mahindra’s all-electric version of the XUV700, dubbed the XEV 9S, will be launched on Nov 27. Test prototypes reveal an aero-enhanced design, featuring a closed front grille, redesigned alloy wheels and a three-screen dashboard layout inside that have also been confirmed by the teasers. Built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, the SUV will reportedly offer two battery pack options with the higher variant targeting around 500 km of real-world range.

2. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the brand’s first fully-electric SUV, will go on sale next month in India. Manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant and underpinned by the Heartect e platform, it will come with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options. Its retail sales will be handled through the Nexa premium network.

3. Tata Sierra EV:

The much-awaited Tata Sierra is all set to make a comeback – this time in both ICE and electric guises. While the petrol and diesel versions will launch this month, the Sierra EV will follow in early 2026. It is likely to feature dual battery pack options delivering a claimed range of over 500 km. Inside, the SUV will boast three connected screens, drive and terrain mode selectors, ventilated front seats Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof amongst others.

4. Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV:

Toyota’s Urban Cruiser BEV will join the Indian market as a close cousin of the Maruti e Vitara, built on the same Heartect e architecture. It is slated for an early 2026 debut with two battery options and a feature-rich cabin including dual displays, wireless charging, OTA updates and ADAS. The model will become Toyota’s first all-electric SUV for India.
