3-door Mahindra Thar facelift will likely be launched early next year with notable exterior and interior revisions
It is no secret that the testing of the facelifted three-door Mahindra Thar is underway on public roads with camouflaged prototypes offering clues about the visual and feature changes in store. Several revisions are already visible and some of which can be clearly associated with the five-door Thar Roxx which has been well received by consumers since its launch.
Spy images suggest the presence of a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a newly designed steering wheel and relocated power window switches, now positioned on the door pads instead of the centre console. The gear lever console also appears redesigned, hinting at the addition of a wireless charging dock. Further similarities to the Roxx extend to the grab handles mounted on the A-pillars and revised dashboard layout.
On the outside, the front bumper has been reshaped, the fog lamp housings look reworked and the grille design has changed subtly. Moreover, the C-shaped LED elements and new alloy wheels are expected to bring a refreshed appeal. It won’t get any mechanical or dimensional changes though as the familiar powertrains will be retained.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue to make 117 hp and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The 152 hp producing 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot petrol and the 132 hp developing 2.2-litre turbo four-cylinder diesel mill will stay put. Both the six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic options will be available.
The current 3-door Mahindra Thar is only sold with a hardtop layout and we expect the same to continue while both two- and four-wheel-drive configurations will help the off-roader to have an expansive range. Despite its mid-cycle nature, the facelifted Thar is expected to bring notable upgrades and a more premium interior and thus its prices will go up.

The Mahindra Thar currently retails between Rs. 11.50 lakh and Rs. 17.62 lakh (ex-showroom), covering a total of seven variants. Given the extent of updates, a price revision appears inevitable. Based on past trends, a hike in the range of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 is expected for select variants upon launch in early 2026.
