2026 Tata Punch will go on sale on January 13 in India with a comprehensive makeover inside and out
Tata Motors is looking to significantly raise the bar in the micro SUV space with the upcoming Punch facelift – officially scheduled to launch on January 13, 2026. Recent teaser drops confirm that this update goes far beyond surface level styling changes. The most transformative change lies under the bonnet. For the first time since its launch in late 2021, the Punch will be offered with a turbocharged petrol engine in its new avatar.
The brand has confirmed the addition of its iTurbo powertrain moving the Punch into a more performance-oriented territory. Expected to be the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol unit used in the Altroz Racer to be featured. It should generate outputs close to 120 PS and 170 Nm, hooked with a six-speed manual transmission.
Teaser images reveal a reprofiled driver’s seat with enhanced under-thigh support, a feature borrowed from the bigger Sierra. The updated Punch will feature a fully digital instrument display, 65W fast charging support, touch-operated controls for key functions and an automatic climate control function. Additionally, the inclusion of Hill Descent Control should install confidence in drivers while driving up the mountains.

On the design front, the Punch facelift adopts a more assertive visual finish while retaining its upright proportions as the influences from Tata’s larger SUVs are evident. The front end receives a complete overhaul with a new bumper design, pronounced black cladding and contrasting silver accents. The lighting setup is also new featuring vertically stacked LED headlamps.
Unlike the electric Punch, the ICE version skips the continuous light bar in favour of a blacked-out centre element flanked by slim LED Daytime Running Lights. The facelifted Punch is expected to offer a 360-degree camera system hinted at by a visible front camera and revised ORVM housings. The rear sees the introduction of connected LED tail lamps while new alloy wheel designs, updated branding and new paint options complete the exterior updates.

Taken together, the 2026 Tata Punch facelift will appeal to a wider set of consumers and it will be offered in an expansive range courtesy of the addition of a turbo gasoline mill. Being one of the top-selling cars in India, the Punch will look to leverage its popularity further.
