Bengaluru-based electric mobility pioneer Ather Energy is gearing up for a landmark event at its Community Day 2025, scheduled for August 30. The company is set to make several major announcements, most notably the unveiling of its brand-new EL electric scooter platform—a strategic move aimed at expanding Ather’s reach in India’s competitive electric two-wheeler market.

The EL platform promises versatility and cost-efficiency, potentially enabling Ather to launch its first scooter priced under ₹1 lakh. This move would place Ather squarely in competition with brands like Ola Electric, Bajaj, TVS, Hero’s Vida, and Greaves, all of whom already offer budget-friendly electric scooters in that segment.

Along with the EL platform, Ather will showcase concept vehicles based on this new architecture, signaling the brand’s intent to broaden its product portfolio and attract a wider consumer base—including daily commuters and cost-conscious buyers.

In another big announcement, Ather is preparing to introduce its next-generation Ather Grid fast chargers, which will build upon the already impressive performance of its current charging network. The existing Ather Grid supports charging at 1.5 km/min for Ather scooters and 1.2 km/min for Vida scooters, made possible through Ather’s open-source connector technology. The upcoming Grid chargers are expected to offer faster charging times, greater efficiency, and improved user experience.

To complement the hardware developments, Ather will also launch Ather Stack 7.0, the latest version of its operating system. This update is expected to bring new features, user interface enhancements, and performance upgrades to Ather’s growing lineup of electric scooters. It continues Ather’s tradition of regularly upgrading software, following in the footsteps of Stack 6.0, which introduced innovative features in previous models.

The Community Day event also marks a milestone for Ather’s Rizta family scooter, which was launched in 2024 and has now crossed over one lakh units in sales. This reinforces Ather’s momentum in becoming a household name in the Indian EV space.

With the upcoming event, Ather aims to redefine its brand position—not just as a premium electric vehicle maker, but also as a mass-market player ready to scale aggressively. The announcements could signal a new era of innovation, accessibility, and rapid infrastructure growth for India’s EV ecosystem.

Stay tuned for more details as Ather sets the stage for what could be its most transformative year yet.
